Uncle Louie “Smoke Eater”
“Smoke Eater” was coined as a nickname to describe firefighters before they starting using self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBAs) while fighting fire; this meant that every firefighter that entered a building either to search for victims or to fight fire, would end up inhaling the smoke. The seasoned firemen would make this task look easy, thus earning the title Smoke Eater.
